Position Description We are seeking a highly skilled
Data Center Technician II to support enterprise-scale data center operations, including server hardware, networking, and infrastructure deployments. As a key member of the data center operations team, you will be responsible for hardware lifecycle management, troubleshooting, documentation, and ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and service-level standards. Key Responsibilities - Install, configure, stage, start up, and decommission data center hardware, including servers, racks, storage devices, and network switches.
- Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify root causes and resolve hardware, OS, or network issues efficiently.
- Replace faulty components and execute hardware refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) with minimal operational impact.
- Validate cabling, labeling, grounding, and equipment setup in accordance with deployment standards and safety requirements.
- Support new deployments and provide real-time issue resolution in production environments.
- Monitor server fleet health and assist with failure analysis and trend identification to support SLA compliance.
- Document processes, troubleshooting steps, and lessons learned to contribute to knowledge bases and SOPs.
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership, escalating incidents as needed.
- Meet or exceed KPIs and SLAs by completing tickets accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, participate in required training, and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
- Collaborate with geographically distributed teams while maintaining the ability to work independently.
Required Skills / Education - 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Center Technician or similar infrastructure support role.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware components and system-level failure scenarios.
- Experience with IPMI tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency administering Windows Server OS and WinPE environments.
- Working knowledge of network troubleshooting (Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3).
- Experience with firmware updates, diagnostics tools, and deployment testing.
- Basic scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
- Familiarity with virtual machine setup and environment configuration.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
- CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Server+ (or equivalent experience).
- CCENT or equivalent networking experience.
Preferred Qualifications - CCNA certification
- MCP or MCSE certification
- Experience with Linux PXE services
Physical Requirements - Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and use rolling stairs safely.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
