Position Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician II to support enterprise-scale data center operations, including server hardware, networking, and infrastructure deployments. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and takes pride in delivering reliable, high-quality service.

As a key member of the data center operations team, you will be responsible for hardware lifecycle management, troubleshooting, documentation, and ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and service-level standards. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, stage, start up, and decommission data center hardware, including servers, racks, storage devices, and network switches.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify root causes and resolve hardware, OS, or network issues efficiently.
  • Replace faulty components and execute hardware refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) with minimal operational impact.
  • Validate cabling, labeling, grounding, and equipment setup in accordance with deployment standards and safety requirements.
  • Support new deployments and provide real-time issue resolution in production environments.
  • Monitor server fleet health and assist with failure analysis and trend identification to support SLA compliance.
  • Document processes, troubleshooting steps, and lessons learned to contribute to knowledge bases and SOPs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership, escalating incidents as needed.
  • Meet or exceed KPIs and SLAs by completing tickets accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, participate in required training, and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Collaborate with geographically distributed teams while maintaining the ability to work independently.
Required Skills / Education
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Center Technician or similar infrastructure support role.
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware components and system-level failure scenarios.
  • Experience with IPMI tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency administering Windows Server OS and WinPE environments.
  • Working knowledge of network troubleshooting (Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3).
  • Experience with firmware updates, diagnostics tools, and deployment testing.
  • Basic scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
  • Familiarity with virtual machine setup and environment configuration.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Server+ (or equivalent experience).
  • CCENT or equivalent networking experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCNA certification
  • MCP or MCSE certification
  • Experience with Linux PXE services
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and use rolling stairs safely.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
