Job Description

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care focused on the comfort and well-being of patients within a psychiatric inpatient setting. Utilizing critical thinking and independent judgment, responsibilities include all phases of nursing care : assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse directs and supervises a patient care team that may include Certified Nursing Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and other technicians while collaborating with other healthcare disciplines to provide comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments, developing and updating patient care plans in collaboration with patients.
• Provide and supervise nursing care while evaluating patient outcomes.
• Assist in collecting vital signs, reviewing lab results, and providing physical assessments as directed by the psychiatrist.
• Utilize technology and safety standards while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
• Document patient care, conditions, reactions, and responses to treatment in a timely manner.
• Engage in self-assessment and peer review, and participate in performance improvement activities.
• Educate patients and their families and document these interactions appropriately.
