We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of complex construction projects. This role bridges office and field operations, ensuring work progresses safely, efficiently, and in alignment with design specifications and client expectations. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Review project plans, contracts, and technical specifications to ensure full understanding of scope and requirements.
Identify potential design or coordination conflicts early, prepare and track RFIs, and communicate solutions to the Project Manager.
Maintain organized records of submittals, drawings, and project documentation, updating logs regularly.
Coordinate submittal reviews and approvals with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Track project quantities, cost impacts, and schedule changes; document and communicate any variances to leadership.
Support change management processes, including pricing and documentation of additional work.
Collaborate with procurement and vendors to obtain shop drawings and verify material compliance with project standards.
Research alternative materials or methods to improve constructability, lead time, or cost efficiency.
Assist in securing required permits and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Conduct site visits to monitor progress, identify field risks, and ensure adherence to project specifications and safety protocols.
Work closely with superintendents and field crews to resolve technical challenges and optimize productivity.
Participate in safety planning and contribute to project hazard assessments.
Help prepare construction plans such as lift plans, shutdown or tie-in plans, spill prevention, or bypass procedures.
Attend coordination and cost meetings, providing project status updates and assisting with forecasting.
Support closeout documentation, including as-builts, warranties, and punch list completion.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a project engineering role within the commercial, municipal, or utility construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction documents, specifications, and project workflows.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Bluebeam, and project management or document control software (e.g., Procore, B2W TRACK).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with clients, vendors, and field personnel.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Combination of office and field settings, requiring both administrative and on-site involvement.
Must be comfortable visiting active construction sites and performing light physical activities such as climbing, walking, or standing for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and work outdoors in varying conditions when needed.
