Controls Engineer - Space Systems
Compensation : $140,000-$170,000 (base salary, depending on experience)
We're partnered with a next-generation space technology company developing cutting-edge launch and satellite propulsion systems. This team is shaping the future of automated testing and production for space hardware and is looking for a Controls Engineer to join their growing organization.
This role will design and implement control systems that power automated test and production equipment-scripting control sequences, developing real-time software, and integrating complex electromechanical systems. You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver robust, safety-compliant solutions that keep operations efficient and scalable.

Key Responsibilities-Design, implement, and maintain control systems for factory and test infrastructure, including sensors, actuators, and safety interlocks.-Develop Python-based control software for real-time loops, data acquisition, and hardware communication (Modbus, CAN, TCP / IP).-Support system bring-up, debugging, and refinement in lab and production environments.-Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and test engineers to align on requirements and integration.-Create clear documentation, operator manuals, and test procedures for scalability.-Ensure all systems meet industrial safety and reliability standards.
Minimum Qualifications-3+ years of experience designing and deploying real-world control systems in test or production environments.-Proficiency in Python for automation and control.-Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, EtherCAT, RS-485).-Experience with PLCs, industrial PCs, or embedded control systems.-Comfortable working around high-voltage, high-pressure, or high-speed equipment.-Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills.-Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications-Experience in aerospace, automotive, or advanced manufacturing.-Background with NI hardware / software, SCADA systems, or real-time data logging.-Knowledge of industrial safety system design (OSHA, NFPA 79, ISO 13849).-Familiarity with Linux-based workflows and version control systems (Git).
