Description :

Under minimal direction, perform various therapeutic physical therapy treatments according to the direction of a physician.

Interpret physician orders, evaluate patients, and formulate treatment plans to reach long and short-term goals.

Interpret patients' responses to treatment and modify plans to fit their current needs.

Be involved in discharge planning and write and instruct patients in a home program.

Document treatment results and patients' responses in medical records.

Depending on clinical experience, may supervise and assist students during clinical rotations.

Maintain and clean equipment used by the department.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Must possess knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, techniques, equipment, and procedures used in physical therapy.

Have sufficient knowledge of anatomy and physiology to evaluate and treat patients.

Be able to adjust equipment to suit patients' needs.

Maintain effective working relationships with staff and possess excellent communication skills to guide patients in assuming responsibility for their treatment and development.

Knowledge of computers is required.
