As our Emergency Management Intern youll dive into hands-on work that brings you shoulder-to-shoulder with public safety experts City departments and partner agencies across Coppell. Youll help build and refine Emergency Action Plans craft preparedness resources for our community support training and exercises that sharpen real-world response and contribute to the plans that guide how the City operates during critical events. Schedule Commitment

This is an internship averaging 15-20 hours per week and is non-benefitted.

Pay Information

This opportunity is non-exempt and paid an hourly rate of $18.00.

Eligibility

Experience

Must currently be enrolled in an accredited university and be working towards a bachelors degree or masters degree that focuses on Emergency Management Public Administration or Business Administration. Proof of enrollment is required upon offer.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Understanding of Emergency Management Principles and the ability to comprehend disaster preparedness response recovery and mitigation strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders prepare reports and conduct presentations.
• Capacity to analyze data identify trends and synthesize information relevant to emergency management.
• Strong ability to manage tasks coordinate projects and maintain documentation effectively.
• Familiarity with relevant software applications databases and communication tools used in emergency management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment build positive relationships and communicate clearly with others.
• Capability to make quick decisions think critically and adapt to changing circumstances during emergencies.
• Readiness to adjust to changing priorities work schedules and operational needs during emergencies.
• Eagerness to learn seek feedback and contribute to the overall field of emergency management while enhancing professional skills and knowledge.
