VP, Solution Architect – SyPI at Synchrony
Role Summary / Purpose : The Vice President, Solution Architect leads hands‑on system design and architecture, ensuring time‑sensitive projects are delivered on schedule and to specification. Responsibilities include deep expertise in solution architecture using Mobile Native UI, Native SDKs, API, and Web views for iOS and Android apps and the ability to influence and lead multiple teams.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Influence many agile development teams throughout all phases of the agile development life cycle using the Scaled Agile Framework.
- Implement new technologies and assist developers as they migrate to new technologies.
- Architect iOS, Android applications and mobile SDKs that operate within a microservices ecosystem comprising RESTful APIs, API Gateway, and Spring Framework.
- Design data models to support complex business processes.
- Drive a CI / CD strategy using Bitrise, Bitbucket, CloudBees, Jenkins, and uDeploy.
- Ensure application code quality through development, testing, and delivery.
- Mentor and influence all levels of the team, working with developers, UX designers, product managers, and application architects across multiple platforms.
- Ensure compliance with architecture, security, and technology standards set by Synchrony.
- Assist in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy and the application modernization and migration roadmap.
- Lead Agile sprints as a technical expert, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint review.
- Provide 24x7 on‑call escalation support throughout the year.
- Identify and implement ways to increase efficiency and improve system performance within engineering and the development lifecycle.
- Coach and mentor engineering leads to expand their knowledge and capabilities.
Qualifications / Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with at least 8 years of software engineering experience, or a High School Diploma / GED with 10 years of software engineering experience.Minimum 6 years of application development experience.Experience in mobile native application development for iOS and Android platforms.Critical thinking, creativity, and strong problem‑solving skills.Excellent communication of complex topics to business and client stakeholders.Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required.Desired Characteristics :
Experience with APIs and AWS cloud infrastructure.Expertise with continuous integration environments.Knowledge of using New Relic and Splunk for production support.Familiarity with JSON, REST, and GraphQL web services.Strong cross‑functional team player with excellent interpersonal skills.Experience developing and supporting financial / banking applications.Salary : $135,000.00 – $230,000.00 USD per year, with an annual bonus based on performance.
