Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Technical Operations Supervisor, Senior Hazardous Materials Technicians provide the following services to UCSF :
- Hazardous chemical waste collection and disposal
- Medical waste collection and disposal
- Receipt of radioactive material
- Radioactive waste collection and disposal
- Controlled substance receipt and disposal
- Radioactive contamination monitoring
- Calibration of radiation survey meters
- Emergency shower and eyewash testing
- Fume hood testing
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $32.82 - $39.51 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma (GED)At least 1 year of experience working with hazardous materials.; or a bachelor's degree that includes appropriate coursework in the biological or physical sciences.Knowledge of how to safely work with hazardous materialsBasic computer skills including the ability to use Excel, Word, and OutlookDemonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skillsSkills in basic mathematics including AlgebraAbility to lift at least 50 lbs and the ability to wear appropriate personal protective clothing, including a full-face respirator is requiredThis is a 'critical' position; fingerprinting and a background check are requiredPossession of a valid California Driver's license with a good driving record is requiredIncumbent is subject to DMV pull notice programAbility to work a swing shiftAbility to work during weekends and campus holidays as necessary to ensure coverage of EH&S activitiesPreferred Qualifications
