Typical Work Schedule: 12 hour shifts (rotating weekends) – 6am-6pm OR 6pm-6am
Definition
This position is responsible for working within a community correctional environment and having direct contact with reentrants while providing supervision of all Renewal, Inc. Security staff, building safety and security and ensure the productive operation of all security stations and functions. This position will work as the individual primarily responsible for ensuring the operations of the agency are met within a twenty-four hour basis and will be responsible for managing and reporting any extraordinary incidences or occurrences verbally and in writing through their chain of command. This position will monitor, report, record, and redirect the behavior of reentrants to comply with facility policies in collaboration with local law enforcement and contracted jurisdictions (e.g. The Allegheny County Jail, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, and Federal Bureau of Prisons). This position will receive training and comply with procedures in accordance with all local and federal laws as well as accrediting standards.
Supervisory responsibilities for this position include staffing, assisting in payroll completion, scheduling, debriefing and reporting shift operations, completing reports, adhering to and enforcing Renewal, Inc.'s policies and procedures, training and developing community corrections monitors (CCMs), coordinating large scale and daily searches and providing a safe environment for staff, reentrants and visitors. Individual will prioritize emergency and non-emergency issues and use discretion in various situations. This person will act as the incident commander in the Security department during extraordinary occurrences.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising the movement of reentrants on a twenty-four hour basis and reentrant accountability by the consistent enforcement of rules and regulations, performing headcounts, conducting pat searches and utilizing a body scanner, searching and seizing contraband, collecting and testingurine specimens, , alcolyser screening, offender processing, offender transporting/escorting, utilizing NIK Narcotics Identification System tests, and assisting with K-9 unit to complete searches of the facility.
Eligibility Requirements

Education and/or Experience
Valid Pennsylvania driver's license, Act 33/34 and a high degree of ethics required.
Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalency and two years related experience required. One year of supervisory experience required. A Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related field preferred. Must be comfortable working in an operational correctional facility.
Skill/Ability Requirements
This individual should operate with a high degree of ethics, maintain motivation, and demonstrate reliability. Ability to function in a team setting; multi-task, communicate effectively (verbally and in writing); establish and maintain rapport with boundaries, train and develop staff, cultivate a positive work environment, operate computers and document electronically, observe and assess behaviors, exercise situational awareness, respond to emergencies, utilizing communication devices (e.g. two way radio). Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must be able to work well with people and have the ability to be assertive and remain calm in the event of a crisis and be capable of maintaining control in any given situation. Must be able to work 12 hour shifts with moderate/high activity and movement.
Work Schedule
6am-6pm OR 6pm-6am. Rotating weekend off.
