Summary
Offering multiple majors and home to all of Barry’s student media, Communication is a popular department and a hub of student activity on campus. Because it is closely linked to the technological, social, and cultural changes rapidly changing our world, communication is a versatile major at Barry University that provides students various ways to pursue their interests and career goals.
Our programs reflect the breadth of the communication discipline with majors in Communication & Media Studies, Advertising and Public Relations, and Television and Digital Media. We also offer minors in each of these areas and an interdisciplinary minor in journalism that combines classes in graphic design, photography, English writing, and communication.

Barry University in Miami Shores is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach in our Advertising and Public Relations program.
We are looking for professionals with a master’s degree or equivalent in Advertising, Public Relations, Communication, or a related field. Courses include Persuasion, Crisis Communications, and related subjects. Ideal candidates will have industry experience and experience teaching.
Responsibilities include developing course materials, delivering lectures, and evaluating student performance.
Essential Functions
Produce a comprehensive syllabus.
Create, administer and evaluate exams, papers and projects.
Employ appropriate academic online resources (e.g., Canvas, etc.).
Schedule at least one office hour per week, per course section, to address students’ questions, issues, concerns, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
A master’s degree or higher in Communication (or closely related area) and 18 graduate hours in Speech/Communication discipline (or closely related)
Previous experience in higher education preferred.
Excellent communications skills
