About the Role

American Central Transport (ACT) is looking for a Trailer Technician (Level 2) to join our Maintenance team in Kansas City, MO. In this hands-on role, you’ll perform inspections, diagnostics, welding, brake repairs, and preventative maintenance to keep our trailers operating safely and efficiently.

You’ll work in a clean, well-equipped shop alongside experienced technicians who take pride in quality repairs and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform trailer inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance
• Conduct DOT inspections and maintain certification
• Troubleshoot and repair trailer electrical and brake systems
• Perform MIG/Arc welding and minor body or structural repairs
• Replace or adjust air lines, brakes, shocks, mud flaps, and tires
• Use maintenance software to document repairs and parts usage
• Follow all safety standards and quality control procedures

What You’ll Need

• Proficiency in basic trailer repair and maintenance (Level I skills or higher)
• Experience with trailer brake systems, welding, and electrical repairs
• DOT Inspection Certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to lift, bend, and work in a busy shop environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Team-oriented attitude and reliable attendance

Preferred:

• Completion of a Class A Technical or Diesel Tech School program
• Previous experience as a Level 2 Trailer Technician or higher
