Wage Range : $33.89 - $54.23 per hour
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary :
Oversees the daily activities of the EvergreenHealth Professional Coding Team. Provides initial training for new employees and retraining of current employees for new specialties or workflows. Primarily performs the same work as others in the classification; in addition is directly accountable for monitoring and reviewing work assignments of other employees, checking work for accuracy, and providing work instructions to other employees. Supports and assists the Professional Coding Supervisor and Manager with development and maintenance of department policies, procedures and standards. Must have the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with all departments and levels of leadership.
Primary Duties :
- Provides orientation and training for new Professional Coding staff and ongoing training for existing staff in all responsibilities and workflows taking into consideration individual learning styles to ensure departmental expectations are met.
- Performs quality assurance reviews of production coders following department procedure to ensure department workflows and processes are being followed and accuracy metrics are met.
- Provides constructive feedback for improvement opportunities to Professional Coding staff based on quality assurance reviews.
- Develops and maintains current written policies, standards, and procedures for designated team responsibilities.
- Manages staff schedules and designated responsibilities, including coverage for staff on leave as appropriate.
- Provides management support as necessary and coordinates special department projects.
- Coordinates efforts with other departments and / or vendors as necessary to ensure completion of large projects.
- Schedules and leads team meetings for the purpose of process improvement, resolving issues, and providing education to Professional Coding staff.
- Participates in interviewing and hiring staff including screening of applicants for relevant experience, scheduling interviews, and scoring coding assessments to evaluate skillsets.
- Assists Professional Coding Supervisor with evaluation of staff performance.
- Performs all duties of a Professional Coder I or II and other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience :
REQUIRED for the position :
High school diploma or G.E.DCurrent professional coding credential : AAPC (Certified Professional Coder [CPC], Certified Outpatient Coder [COC]), PMI (Certified Medical Coder [CMC]), or AHIMA (Certified Coding Specialist-Physician [CCS-P], Certified Coding Associate [CCA], Certified Coding Specialist [CCS], Registered Health Information Administrator [RHIA], Registered Health Information Technician [RHIT])3 years of professional coding experience in a multi-specialty medical group setting.Previous mentoring, coaching or leadership experience.Extensive knowledge in ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding for professional services with emphasis on major surgical procedures for multiple specialties.Proficient understanding of Epic functionality related to professional coding charge review, denials, and claim edits.Proficient knowledge in medical terminology, coding and sequencing guidelines.Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology and disease processes.Expanded understanding of payer billing requirements, managing denials, payer policies, and navigating payer platforms.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsDESIRED for the position :
