Prior experience as a trainer, lead tech, or mentor strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of diagnostic testing, refraction, IOL calculations, and surgical assisting. Excellent communication, patience, and ability to inspire others. EMR experience required (ModMed a plus). We are seeking an experienced Certified Ophthalmic Technician to join us as our dedicated Trainer & Mentor . This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned technician who loves teaching, wants to shape the next generation of ophthalmic professionals, and is ready to make a real impact on patient care and clinic efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and lead structured 30-60-90 day onboarding programs for new technicians.
- Provide hands-on training in patient workups, diagnostics, EMR documentation (ModMed), and surgical prep.
- Standardize workflows to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with ophthalmic best practices.
- Mentor and coach team members to advance their certification (COA → COT → COMT).
- Partner with clinic leadership to identify skills gaps and implement continuous improvement strategies.
- Ensure a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
