About the Role:
The Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in supporting classroom teachers to create an effective and engaging learning environment for students. This position involves assisting with instructional activities, managing student records, and facilitating communication with students, and teachers. The Teacher Assistant helps implement lesson plans, provides individualized support to students, and contributes to maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
DCF Certification
Bilingual in Spanish.
Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
Basic proficiency in maintaining student records and classroom documentation.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Creative writing skills to support curriculum development and student engagement.
Responsibilities:
Assist the lead teacher in preparing and delivering instructional materials and activities..
Support students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and provide additional help as needed.
Collaborate with teaching staff and learning center personnel to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
Demonstrate leadership by guiding students in teamwork activities and fostering a cooperative classroom environment..
Skills:
Organizing classroom activities and supporting instructional delivery effectively.
