Registered Nurse Operating Room

This job helps the Operating Room. The main tasks include :

• Providing care to patients who are having surgery. Preparing and keeping the operating room ready for all surgeries. Using a checklist to ensure the operating room and equipment are safe for patients and staff. Gathering the materials and special equipment needed for daily procedures and possible emergencies. Helping during surgeries. Responding to emergencies such as heart or breathing problems and heavy bleeding.
• Keeping communication open with other departments to make sure all patient needs are met. Visiting patients before and after surgery to explain what will happen. Talking with the surgeon to prioritize care for each patient. Working with other hospital areas like recovery rooms and nursing units regarding patients and any special needs after surgery.
• Guiding and teaching staff on how to prepare clean and take care of operating room equipment and supplies. Keeping clear and complete records and reports. Organizing training for operating room nursing staff to keep their skills and knowledge updated.
• Performing assigned duties to care for different patient types based on their needs and the surgery planned.
• Completing assigned care according to each patients condition using good judgment in deciding the order of procedures and carefully marking relevant patient information.
• Noticing and responding to patient needs for care including medications assistance with devices and education for patients and their families.
• Offering nursing care before and after surgery for all types of patients including those who need scheduled urgent or emergency procedures. This includes patients of all ages and backgrounds.
• Assessing planning performing and reviewing nursing care for all types of patients : babies children teens adults elderly and individuals with disabilities as well as those from different ethnic and religious backgrounds including those who may not speak or understand English.
• Work Schedule :
• Monday to Friday working 8 10 or 12-hour shifts between 6 : 45 am and 7 : 15 pm.
• Occasional overtime might be needed.
• On-call rotation which includes being available on weekends with minimal callbacks.
• No work on weekends nights or holidays unless on-call.
• Minimum Qualifications :
• Education :
• You should have a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited community college college or nursing program recognized by the state.-
• Experience :
• At least 12 months of experience in operating room roles is required. This should include preparing the operating room getting patients ready for surgery assisting during surgery sterilizing instruments and helping with recovery after anesthesia if there is no PACU or ICU available.-
• License :
• A current and valid nursing license to practice as a Registered Nurse from any state.-
• Life Support Certification :
• You need BLS / ACLS / PALS certification from the American Red Cross or American Health Association.
• Security :
• You must be able to pass a government background check.
