While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

Coinbase is seeking software engineers to join our team to build out the next generation of crypto-forward products and features. You will solve unique, large scale, highly complex technical problems, bridging the constraints posed by web-scale applications and blockchain technology. You will help build the next generation of systems to make cryptocurrency accessible to everyone across the globe, operating real-time applications with high frequency, low latency updates, and managing the most secure, dockerized infrastructure running in the cloud.

You will have the opportunity to specify your top team choice within the Product Group org (Base, Developer, Consumer, Institutional, Platform) or the* Core Teams org* (Security, Enterprise Applications & Architecture). Please carefully review the team descriptions below and select the group that most aligns with your interests and goals, as your application will be primarily considered for this team.

Product Groups

• Baseis Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer 2 network. It’s secure, low-cost, and developer-friendly, designed to scale the crypto economy. As a Base engineer, you’ll create seamless integrations, fiat onramps, and tools that connect developers to 108M+ users and $100B+ in assets.

• Consumer is building the easiest and fastest way to access crypto through the Coinbase retail app. With a focus on becoming the #1 self-custody wallet, our products include the Coinbase app, advanced trade, dApps, and staking—paving the way for the future of onchain.

• Developerteam empowers builders in crypto with tools like Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS) and Coinbase Cloud. WaaS offers API-based access to multiple blockchain networks, while Coinbase Cloud delivers Web3 APIs, services, and infrastructure to power the next generation of software. Join us to work on cutting-edge technology and shape the future of crypto development.

• Institutionalpowers Coinbase’s business for thousands of large financial institutions, enabling secure custody of digital assets and participation in the crypto economy. From staking and governance to onchain gateways, they build scalable platforms, cutting-edge crypto technologies, and user-friendly interfaces across web, mobile, and browser extensions.

• Platformcreates the scalable, compliant, and trusted systems that underpin Coinbase’s products, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience for users. With teams like Identity, FinHub, and Payments, Platform engineers work on foundational systems that maximize efficiency, enable innovation across the company, and leverage machine learning to drive intelligent automation and decision-making.

Core Teams

• Security is central to Coinbase’s mission and a key advantage as we scale. You’ll work in a high-impact, fast-paced environment, building solutions for critical security, compliance, and privacy needs. Our team safeguards Coinbase by designing platforms like the Workforce IAM Platform, enhancing employee access, and strengthening security oversight. • Enterprise Applications and Architecture (EAA) builds innovative platforms to enhance user and employee experiences. EAA Software Engineers work on cutting-edge solutions that prioritize customer-first approaches, improve agent productivity, and leverage automation to drive efficiency. Key responsibilities include developing tools for seamless customer support, HR tools, and compliance, ensuring Coinbase delivers world-class service.

• Work with engineers, designers, product managers and leadership to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter

• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers

• You’ve worked on either backend or frontend teams using Golang, MongoDB, AWS, Docker, Postgres, Ruby, Rails or React Native

• Degree or certificate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):

$128,775—$151,500 USD
