- Job Description
- The Construction Manager is responsible for providing field construction management and leadership for construction activities for maintenance-focused mechanical and piping at an operating industrial facility in Oxnard, CA. This role represents the client’s interests in the field by managing subcontractors and direct-hire general labor craft to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all site, client, and company requirements. The majority of work involves ongoing maintenance, repairs, and small projects in an active production environment. + Provide day-to-day field construction management for mechanical and piping maintenance activities + Manage and coordinate subcontractors and internal general labor craft to safely execute work scopes + Serve as the primary field interface between the client, subcontractors, and internal project teams + Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety policies, procedures, and site-specific requirements + Plan, schedule, and sequence maintenance work to support facility operations with minimal disruption + Review and manage scopes of work, job plans, and field execution strategies + Monitor contractor performance, productivity, quality, and compliance; address deficiencies promptly + Coordinate with other disciplines to identify and mitigate work conflicts or interferences + Provide constructability input and field feedback to support future maintenance and small capital work + Track work progress and communicate status, risks, and issues to stakeholders
- Basic Job Requirements
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and six (6) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state / province, and federal / national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Other Job Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years experience in construction planning, coordination, or management + Strong experience with mechanical and piping systems, including maintenance and repair work + Experience preparing scope of work for bid packages, review bids, and make recommendations for award + Strong working knowledge of construction workflows, subcontractor coordination and field execution + Experience using Lean Construction principles and the Last Planner System for schedule management + Solid understanding of QA / QC processes and ability to contribute to the development and execution of quality plans
- Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred + Welding experience or strong working knowledge of welding processes + Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification + Basic or intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the basic or intermediate use of spreadsheets We are an equal opportunity employer. Market Rate Statement : The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
