Job Title : Controller

Salary : $110,000–$130,000 annually, dependant on experience
We have partnered with a well-established, employee-owned commercial general contractor in Tempe, AZ, seeking a strategic, hands-on Controller to lead financial operations and provide executive-level insight. This role is central to driving profitability, strengthening ESOP value, and building scalable financial systems that support long-term growth.
CMiC expertise is essential to automate financial processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and improve project profitability.

Key Responsibilities :
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and profitability modelingEstablish and track break-even performance to ensure operational sustainabilityDevelop cash flow and capital strategies to support growthOptimize ESOP financial performance and long-term employee valueHold leadership accountable for financial discipline and project profitabilityFinancial Operations & Compliance
Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, and month-end close processesEnsure compliance with GAAP, ESOP requirements, and tax regulationsEvaluate financial risk related to project bids, contracts, and cost controlsImplement and maintain strong internal controls and data integrityDrive full utilization of CMiC for real-time financial visibilityPayroll, HR Support & Incentive Compensation
Oversee payroll administration and regulatory compliancePartner with HR to align payroll systems with ESOP benefitsDesign and manage commission and bonus structures tied to project profitabilityProfitability, Growth & Performance Metrics
Track financial KPIs with a focus on achieving and maintaining strong net marginsUse CMiC for job costing, WIP reporting, and project performance analysisIdentify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficienciesLeverage analytics and automation to improve forecasting and risk managementTechnology & Financial Systems
Lead and optimize CMiC ERP implementation and reportingIntegrate automation and advanced analytics into financial workflowsContinuously improve financial systems to support executive decision-makingQualifications :
10+ years of financial leadership experience in constructionCPA strongly preferred; ESOP experience highly valuedDeep expertise with CMiC ERP or similar construction-focused financial systemsStrong background in financial modeling, job costing, WIP reporting, and risk managementProven ability to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and implement automationSuccess Metrics :
