Summary

A well-established mechanical contractor is seeking a skilled Estimator with a strong background in HVAC / R systems and design-build project delivery. This position plays a critical role in generating accurate proposals and system layouts from concept to completion. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with mechanical estimating and is proficient in Bluebeam and CAD. Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates and takeoffs for HVAC / R projects based on plan / spec documents, field walks, and load calculations

Use Bluebeam and CAD to develop system layouts and support accurate proposals

Collaborate with sales, project management, and field teams to ensure bids reflect scope, constructability, and cost-efficiency

Support design-build initiatives, including equipment selection, duct / piping layouts, and performance specifications

Participate in client meetings, site visits, and pre-bid walkthroughs to gather project-specific information

Assist in the preparation and negotiation of contracts and project handoffs

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HVAC / R systems, codes, and industry best practices

Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, HVAC / R design, or project engineering

Strong proficiency in Bluebeam, CAD, and Microsoft Excel / Word

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and mechanical drawings

Familiarity with various HVAC / R systems including chilled water, DX, split systems, VRF, and refrigeration

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and work under tight deadlines

Preferred Experience

Prior experience estimating design-build or plan-spec mechanical projects

Exposure to healthcare, industrial, marine, or commercial environments

Understanding of load calculation tools, energy modeling, and lifecycle costing
