The Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our clinical practice at Mercer Medicine in Macon, GA.Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain a financially viable clinical psychiatry practice at the Mercer Medicine clinic in Macon, GA while providing best in class quality care to patients. The position will include direct patient care services in an outpatient clinic. Collaboration within and across clinical departments is strongly encouraged. Experience working with student learners and residents is desirable.
This is a 12-month clinical position that will see patients Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
Rank will be determined based on the credentials of the selected candidate.
Clinical Duties:
Develop and maintain clinical psychiatry practice;
Clinical care of patients in department including participating with department call schedule;
Provide outpatient psychiatric consultations for Mercer Medicine patients and other patients as requested by community physicians;
Complete all medical record documentation requirements as specified in the medical staff rules and regulations on a concurrent basis;
Supervise nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants as required;
Participate in emergency center call schedule as required.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have completed an approved general psychiatry residency, be board eligible/certified in general psychiatry and eligible to obtain a Georgia medical license. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
The ideal candidate will:
have considerable clinical experience with a variety of client populations
have experience or willingness to perform Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression.
have familiarity and/or experience with medical practices, settings, and culture
