You are a department head with a team whose sole job is to keep the hotel systems running to optimal performance, serviced by your team of caring and well-trained staff. In the role of Chief Engineer, you will : / ppstrong Oversee all Aspects of Engineering / strong as the Chief you manage the engineering department including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, etc. of your staff. Your team must be able to professionally maintain the physical operation of the hotel including building structure, fixtures, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, electrical systems and grounds. It is your job to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable guest environment from a physical plant perspective, as well as a positive guest and employee experience. / ppstrong Walk the Talk / strong as the Chief you need to be walking around your hotel every day getting out and inspecting the areas you are responsible for and training or retraining your team when things dont meet expectations. Be proactive vs. reactive to ensure your department is accurately planning / forecasting for maintenance needs as well as staffing and supply levels so as to minimize expenses while delivering an exceptional guest experience. / ppstrong Be the Manager on Duty / strong if requested. / ppstrongJob Requirements / strong / ppThis role requires at least five years of progressive experience in a related field with previous supervisory experience required and customer service and hotel experience preferred. At least five years of practical experience in one or more of the technical trades (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical) is also strongly preferred, as is any license the property may require. This position must have previous experience with budgeting as well as a good working knowledge of the various Microsoft software programs utilized at the hotel. The ability to work with and train the team on the various tools utilized in the department is also key. To be successful in this role, you must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally in English with associates, guests, hotel management and if required ownership. Physical requirements include the ability to perform heavy work - exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 50 pounds of force frequently and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The role also requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances as well as the ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms and ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels. You must have near vision - the ability to see details at close range and must be able to climb stairs and descend stairs in a timely fashion without fatigue as well as the ability to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quick assistance arises. Long work hours are sometimes required. Work will be under variable temperature conditions and noise levels and will be both outdoors and indoors (including potentially on roofs).
