JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team for Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas. The Physical Therapist assesses the needs and is familiar with the status of all patients’ on the department’s service. The Physical Therapist is a resource for or develops and implements a treatment plan, monitors effectiveness of the treatment plan, and implements needed changes. Physical Therapist works as part of a team in association with the patient’s physician, the department Medical Director and other members of the interdisciplinary team to assure timely, safe and cost effective therapy is being delivered.
Required Skills
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes the responsibility for assessing and implementing the rehabilitative needs of the patient.
- Responsible for the interventions of the Physical Therapy department.
- Monitors effectiveness of therapist use of orders and protocols.
- Monitors patient response to therapy. Reports any adverse response to patient’s physician or responsible medical staff.
- Provides education to patients and their caregivers as per physician order, based on need and learning level.
- Ensures department attendance to interdisciplinary treatment conferences, effective communication of care plan goals and relevant respiratory information for each patient.
- Evaluates for proper documentation of assessments on standardized form/ Cerner and placement in Therapies section of medical record.
- Audits documentation of all therapy, adverse responses, and diagnostics for appropriateness and accuracy in medical record.
- Utilizes all resources available to effectively operate the department.
- Assesses and ensures the department’s equipment, supplies and staffing are adequate to meet patient needs.
- Follows up on all laboratory, documentation or patient care deficiencies.
- Assists in development and implementation of department budget.
- Ensures all competencies, evaluations, licensures and certifications are current.
Required Experience
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Graduate from an accredited college or university, MS (PT) required, DPT preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
- Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
- BLS
SPECIFIC JOB EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1 year Physical Therapy experience in a hospital setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Good communication and people skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to utilize Electronic Health Care Record for patient documentation.
