Medical Assistant

A non-exempt medical office position responsible for providing direct nursing care in a medical office setting under the direction of a physician, assists medical providers, and maintains a clean and safe environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
• Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
• Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program and adheres to federal / state laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
• Assists in assessing patient needs and health plans, including taking vital signs, history, medications, and determining chief complaint.
• Completes all necessary documentation in the patient's medical record according to policy.
• Prepares equipment and assists physicians with medical treatments, exams, and procedures.
• Administers prescribed oral medications, injections, performs venipunctures and lab testing.
• Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment, including cleaning, sterilizing, storing instruments, stocking rooms, and taking inventory.
• Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements for protection against hazardous substances.
• Manages administrative and front desk tasks : arranging consultations / appointments, pre-certifying surgeries / tests, answering phones, scheduling appointments, directing calls, and assisting with patient check-out and referrals.

Qualifications

Education

Required : High school diploma / GED

Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or three years of relevant work experience in a healthcare setting in lieu of a Medical Assistant diploma
