Student Rad Tech Apprentice
Summary
Under the direction of an assigned team member, works together with physicians to perform a variety of routine and specialized imaging procedures. Sets up and adjusts equipment to perform diagnostic quality exams and procedures. Is able to position patients to obtain images of the area of interest, while respecting the patient's ability and comfort. Under supervision, is able to perform more advanced imaging techniques in advanced imaging modalities. Obtains appropriate patient information for the procedure being completed and is able to provide comprehensive education to patients, answer questions and address any patient concerns. Practices sterile technique, preventing cross contamination to patients or instruments. Provides radiation protection to the patient, technologist and anyone else in the area, utilizing PPE and other guidelines as needed. Participates in quality assurance checks on equipment and reports any technical problems with equipment. Recognizes emergent situations and activates assistance as needed. Assists other areas and shifts as needed.
Education
Must be currently enrolled in a Medical Imaging program, in the final year of training and must have completed all required program courses to-date in good academic standing.
Licensure / Certification
Must have current CPR certification. Indiana or Ohio State Board of Health Student Radiation License if required for modality of choice.
Experience
Prior clinical experience as Radiology student required.
Other Qualifications
Knowledge of imaging the various anatomical structures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., 100 lbs. shared lifting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Must be able to take call. Demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills.
