Role Summary

As Director of Nursing, you will oversee all nursing operations within a senior living community, ensuring the highest standards of resident care, safety, and compliance. You'll lead a dedicated nursing team, develop clinical strategies, and maintain excellence across care delivery, staff performance, and regulatory adherence.

This role is ideal for a seasoned RN leader with experience in senior living, assisted living, or skilled nursing settings who thrives in a collaborative, resident-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Direct and evaluate all nursing operations to ensure exceptional resident care and regulatory compliance.

Assess and approve resident admissions based on clinical appropriateness and care needs.

Collaborate with physicians, department heads, and interdisciplinary teams to create and maintain individualized care plans.

Partner with external providers such as pharmacies, hospice, and rehabilitation services to coordinate comprehensive resident care.

Engage directly with residents and families to address care concerns and promote satisfaction.

Lead Health Maintenance and Quality Review meetings, ensuring timely updates to service plans and care documentation.

Oversee medication administration records, treatment logs, and nursing notes for accuracy and compliance.

Recruit, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff performance; foster professional growth and retention.

Manage departmental budgets, staffing models, and supply inventories to meet care and operational goals.

Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local healthcare regulations while maintaining strict confidentiality of resident information.

Represent the organization in community and professional settings, cultivating strong partnerships and referral relationships.

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - Virginia or Compact (required).

3+ years of nursing leadership experience in senior living, assisted living, or skilled nursing.

Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations governing elder care.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn EMR and medication management systems.

Demonstrated ability to analyze budgets, staffing metrics, and quality outcomes.
