Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer has ownership of complex, mission-critical features from concept to production.

This position helps to define how we build, not just what we build.

This role acts as a force multiplier for the team by writing high-leverage code, mentoring junior engineers, and championing best practices in scalability, security, and AI-assisted development.

This role can transition into a manager position in addition to other growth opportunities.

The starting salary for this position is $110k - $130k per year.

JOB TITLE:

• Senior Software Engineer REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Lead the design and implementation of complex full-stack features, modules, and systems with minimal supervision.
• A “system” means the full vertical — frontend, API, database, deployment, and tests — not just backend.
• You are trusted with the hardest problems.
• Design scalable, resilient services and data layers across the stack, ensuring they meet performance and security standards.
• Proactively identify technical debt and lead refactoring initiatives to modernize legacy systems into service-oriented architectures.
• Build systems with “radical observability” in mind — ensuring logs, metrics, and error handling provide clear evidence of system health.
• No silent failures.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide technical guidance to Software Engineers and Juniors, fostering a culture of excellence and growth.
• Partner directly with Product and Design to translate business goals into technical specifications that prioritize user value.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and advocate for patterns that improve the team’s long-term velocity.
• Architect features for AI collaboration — clean separation of concerns, well-documented interfaces, modular design that AI can reason about and extend.
• Leverage AI as a collaborative technical partner for generating architectural scaffolding, writing tests, and exploring design alternatives.
• Establish patterns that make the codebase more AI-readable and AI-maintainable over time.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science required or equivalent experience.
• We value demonstrated ability and shipped projects over credentials. 5+ years of professional software development experience, or equivalent demonstrated impact. Strong architectural skills — ability to design systems, not just features.
• You think in services, data flows, and failure modes.
• Proficiency across multiple languages (Python, MySQL, laravel, Vue.js, etc.) frameworks, and paradigms.
• We don’t require specific technologies — we require the judgment to choose the right tool for the problem and the ability to learn new ones rapidly.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to break down ambiguous problems into concrete technical plans.
• Experience acting as a technical lead on specific features or small projects.
