Job Summary :
The OP Coding Coordinator collaborates with Coding Leadership to ensure high coder quality and productivity by performing various quality reviews as outlined in the HIM Coding Department Compliance Plan, and supported by Official Coding Guidelines and internal Outpatient Coding Guidelines. OP Coding Coordinator works with the leadership to develop and implement action plans addressing quality or productivity issues. This position monitors coding workflows and work queues for timely and accurate completion of charts, provides troubleshooting of issues that cause delays in chart completion, and interacts and collaborates with care providers and other hospital departments to address and resolve coding related issues. This position is involved in the training of Outpatient coders as well as vendor staff. This position does extensive research to provide education to the Outpatient coders as well as answering Outpatient coder's questions. This position is responsible for keeping the internal Outpatient Coding Guidelines updated. This position will be required to provide outpatient coding coverage as needed. The OP Coding Coordinator works very closely with the coding leadership, participates in Outpatient coder, works on special projects, and mentors OP Coders to improve their quality and productivity. Other duties as assigned. Required : This position requires a high level of organization and excellent written / verbal communication skills. The ability to adapt to change and support the Outpatient Coders is crucial. Teamwork at all staff levels is a must. This position requires in depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT (where necessary), Anatomy and Medical Terminology.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION :
2-4 years Outpatient coding experience in an academic medical facility is required.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION :
Associates degree in HIM or equivalent is required. Appropriate education or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis of three years of progressively responsible outpatient coding experience in an academic medical facility.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION :
Certified RHIA / RHIT and / or CCS are required within 12 months of hire.

Pay is expected to be between : (expressed as hourly) $24.83 - $42.46. Final compensation is based on experience and will be discussed with you by the recruiter during the interview process.
