Per Diem Retail Staff Pharmacist | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

This per diem pharmacist opportunity focuses on providing exceptional care in a specialty retail pharmacy setting. The position demands strong expertise in retail and specialty pharmacy, with a particular emphasis on managing complex medication regimens for patients with chronic and advanced disease states. Candidates will work with a patient population primarily consisting of Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals, many of whom have low literacy levels, requiring compassion, patience, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness using Pioneer Rx software.
• Provide detailed patient consultations regarding complex medication therapies, including those for diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and other chronic conditions.
• Manage medication therapy to optimize patient outcomes through thorough disease state management.
• Educate patients about medication adherence and potential side effects, ensuring clarity despite literacy barriers.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and internal teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory and company policies related to pharmacy operations.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Active pharmacist license in Pennsylvania.
• Strong experience in retail pharmacy, with specialty retail pharmacy experience highly preferred.
• Proficiency in using Pioneer Rx software.
• Excellent communication and patient consultation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex medication regimens and chronic disease states.
• Compassion and patience in dealing with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with low literacy rates.
