TMS Technician - Job Description
The TMS Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments and providing exceptional patient care in a clinical setting. This role ensures that all treatments are administered safely, effectively, and in accordance with provider-specific protocols while supporting patients throughout their course of care.
Key Responsibilities
- TMS Treatment Administration : Set up the TMS device and administer treatments strictly following provider protocols. Monitor all aspects of each session to ensure patient comfort, treatment accuracy, and proper coil positioning.
- Patient Care & Support : Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while developing rapport and trust. Offer reflective listening, support, and reassurance to patients experiencing depression, anxiety, or other psychiatric conditions.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support : Identify and resolve issues related to patient comfort, coil contact, equipment setup, or other treatment-related challenges.
- Clinical Assessments : Administer psychiatric rating scales, guide patients in completing assessments, and ensure accurate documentation of results.
- Documentation & Scheduling : Record detailed session notes, manage insurance authorization requests, and schedule patient visits using EHR and medical scheduling systems as well as communicate and rectify any lapses in scheduled appointments.
- Team Communication : Maintain clear, timely communication with the team of involved coordinators who oversee treatment across multiple office locations.
- Customer Service : Deliver superior customer service to prospective and current patients. Maintain a professional, compassionate, and confident phone and in-person presence.
- Technical & Administrative Skills : Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software tools with proficiency. Demonstrate strong computer, data entry, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Organization & Task Management : Multi-task effectively while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
- Cross-Department Coordination : Work collaboratively with the medical provider, clinical case manager, admissions representative, supervising manager, and executive team to ensure seamless patient entry, continuity of care, and ongoing management of TMS treatment plans.
- Other Duties : Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
