CNA Position At Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care System

This is a Nursing Assistant position located within Nursing Service at the Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care System. The role is for Acute Care, Medical and Surgical Units. As a Nursing Assistant, you will function as a member of the Nursing Care Team and assist licensed nursing staff in the care of Veteran patients who are in an acute, sub-acute or chronic state of illness. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs and performing diagnostic tests, assisting physicians and nurses in patient care and treatment, setting up medical equipment, and reporting observations of patient behavior and conditions. You will also teach patients and family members about health care procedures and after-care instructions. The position requires full-time commitment, including day and night shifts, with potential for weekends and holidays.

Basic Requirements:

• Citizen of the United States
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program

Preferred Experience:

• At least one year of direct patient care experience in a hospital or nursing home setting
• CPR experience and current BLS card
