Travel Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Nights

East Chicago, IN

Start : ASAP

Schedule : 3x12s Nights

We are seeking a dedicated Travel Respiratory Therapist (RT) for a 13-week assignment in East Chicago, Indiana . This role provides high-quality respiratory care in a long-term acute care setting, with a strong focus on patient assessment, therapy, and clinical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities :

Evaluate patients and recommend individualized respiratory treatment plans.

Administer routine and complex respiratory treatments including :

Invasive / non-invasive ventilation

Aerosol and nebulizer therapies

Oxygen therapy

Chest physiotherapy and suctioning (nasal, oral, tracheal)

Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis, 12-lead EKG, PFTs (NIF, VC), and capnography monitoring.

Assist in procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.

Set up and operate ventilatory equipment; troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance.

Educate patients and families about respiratory care upon discharge.

Collaborate closely with physicians and the care team to evaluate and adjust treatment.

Document all interventions and patient responses per hospital policy.

Maintain proper shift-to-shift handoffs and charge documentation.

Requirements :

Active Respiratory Therapist license (IN or compact)

BLS and ACLS certification required

Strong clinical skills in an acute or LTAC setting

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Previous travel or critical care experience preferred
