Neurology Nurse Practitioner

Memorial Healthcare System s Neuroscience Institute is seeking a motivated and dynamic Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its comprehensive team of providers. The selected candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of neuroscience specialists to deliver high-quality care for patients requiring neurointerventional and stroke-related care in an inpatient setting. Responsibilities will include responding to stroke alerts, conducting daily rounds, pre and post procedure care of patients under-going NeuroIntervention, and writing consultation notes.

Functions as a health care provider in an outpatient setting providing evidence-based care, including but not limited to, diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative health care under the general supervision of a physician.

Detailed Responsibilities:

• Practices within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team providing diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative healthcare management by performing a variety of medical or procedural tasks.
• Obtains complete medical history from patients and performs comprehensive and focused physical examinations appropriate for patient population.
• Organizes and presents historical and physical data on daily rounds, together with evaluations and recommendations, to the healthcare team in such way as to permit him/her to clearly identify a medical problem and determine appropriate diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
• Executes diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated.
• Provides follow-up and health maintenance care to patients based upon accepted standards of care and best practice.
• Instructs and counsels patients with respect to health promotion and/or health maintenance.
• Maintains complete and accurate records of contacts with patients whether in person, virtually or by telephone.

Candidates must have a national Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification or must have a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (or Master s equivalent) from an ARC-PA accredited program and possess a Physician Assistant Certification. A BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross and a Florida license must be obtained by date of hire. An ENLS certification is required within one year of employment.

Schedule requirements are flexible with 12 hour shifts and one 8 hour shift every other week available primarily during the hours of 7:00pm to 7:00am, with rotating weekends and holiday coverage. This is a full-time employed position that offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity.
