Role Overview:

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, is seeking an academic Emergency Medicine attending physician to join our impressive faculty in Boston, MA. The candidate will be appointed to the faculty of Harvard Medical School at an academic rank commensurate with experience.

Applicants should be dynamic and motivated academic Emergency Medicine physicians that will advance clinical excellence, scholarly inquiry, and medical education within a world-class academic medical center. As part of the dynamic team, you will be at the forefront of developing or building a specialized research area of research expertise. BIDMC is a rich environment for research with robust infrastructure (e.g. a standing clinical research team), support (e.g. IRB writer, statistical support, database support), and mentorship (multiple NIH RO1 funded investigators within the department) to assist in facilitating a successful research career.

With research funding totaling over $250 million, annually, BIDMC’s 2000+ researchers and staff run more than 2500 active clinical research studies in 52 areas of research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality, compassionate clinical care in a high-acuity, urban academic emergency department.
• Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Engage in academic activities including research, quality improvement, education, informatics, administration, or other scholarly pursuits aligned with your interests.
• Collaborate with a diverse and multidisciplinary team of emergency medicine professionals committed to advancing the field and improving patient outcomes.
• Contribute to the department’s academic and strategic goals through clinical service, scholarly engagement, and departmental leadership opportunities.

Qualifications:

• MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Board certification (or eligibility) in Emergency Medicine.

Pay Range:

$225 - $250/hr

The base pay range reflects what Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality HMFP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contributions.
