Systems Engineer II
Location : Englewood, CO 80112 (4 days on-site, 1 day remote)
Contract Duration : Long term W2 ongoing contract with potential to convert
Pay Rate : $35+ / hour depending on experience level
Overview : Our Fortune 500 Telecom Client is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer II to join the Regional Video Engineering and Lab Operations team. This team supports video platforms, headend environments, spectrum guide functionality, and lab-based troubleshooting for real‑world customer issues. The ideal candidate brings strong cable industry knowledge, RF comprehension, Linux system administration, and the ability to take initiative and own projects from end to end.
Skill Set
- 1-3 years of professional experience
- Cable industry experience
- Linux system administration experience, including :
- Rocky Linux and Red Hat (preferred)
- Experience moving away from CentOS
- Installing and verifying RPMs
- Reading and analyzing log files
- Familiarity with VM environments (VMISS or similar).
- Self-starter who can immediately contribute without heavy training
- Team‑player with strong communication skills.
- RF would be a nice to have
- Strong knowledge of video troubleshooting and understanding of cable broadband ecosystems would be nice to have
Responsibilities
Support, test, and troubleshoot video delivery systems including Spectrum Guide, VOD, PPV, and related headend components.Reproduce field issues in the lab to diagnose and identify root causes.Promote patches, updates, and code changes from the lab back into production environments.Manage multiple headend environments representing different markets and configurations.Install, deploy, configure, and upgrade software across enterprise‑scale systems.Work heavily with Linux-based environments (Rocky Linux, Red Hat, CentOS).Install RPM packages, verify logs, remediate issues, and ensure successful deployments.Review and analyze log files, interfaces, and network behaviors.Proactively troubleshoot complex video issues, RF-related problems, or network anomalies.ollaborate with testers in the lab to ensure a stable environment for validating fixes.Work across multiple systems such as VMs / VMISS, headend devices, and encryption / CDN systems.Team overview : Working on a team with 7 other engineers
