We are now hiring a full- time Domestic Violence Program Manager to join our Family Shelter Service team at our DuPage office. This is a meaningful opportunity to support survivors and be part of a compassionate, mission-driven program. This position provides leadership across all shifts and is responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality services in a 24 / 7 environment. The DV Program Manager is required to work one weekend day per month.

This role is part of a 24-hour program, and flexibility in scheduling is required to ensure continuous coverage. While shift assignments may vary based on program needs, the organization makes every effort to offer consistent scheduling, typically structured as a five-day 8-hour shifts workweek including one weekend day. Scheduling needs will include holidays.

SALARY : The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $80,000 and $85,000 annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Oversees a community-based site’s domestic violence advocacy program, its supervisors, and staff.
  • In partnership with DV Program Supervisors, develops and implements new initiatives. Participates in agency-wide planning for the implementation of new strategies and programs.
  • Develops and administers the program budget; identifies and pursues funding opportunities.
  • Monitors the program to ensure that deliverables are met and the program is in fiscal compliance with contracts.
  • Supervises the program and its staff. In collaboration with the DV Program Director, provides supervision, coaching, and support to program staff in appropriate crisis management, non-violent communication, and conflict resolution skills. Has a team-oriented approach that promotes positive interactions.
  • Is responsible for all personnel matters within the program, including the hiring, assignment, and termination of staff. Identifies and fosters the leadership potential of program staff.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with elected and appointed officials and community leaders relating to the needs of the agency and the program. Participates in collaboration with other agencies and institutions to advance the goals of the program.
  • Responsible for assessing training needs and planning trainings; may provide some staff training.
  • Remains cognizant of current developments in the field of domestic violence. May participate in local, state, and national activities in the field of gender-based violence.
  • Represents Metropolitan Family Services and the domestic violence program in the community.
  • Provides services in accordance with the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals’ code of ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS and / or EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor’s degree (contingent upon obtaining MA) and seven years’ experience in the field of gender-based violence.
  • Demonstrated increase in administrative / supervisory responsibilities across time.
  • Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (CDVP) certification required by end of first year in role.
  • TRAVEL / MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS :

  • Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Master’s degree plus five years’ experience in the field of gender-based violence with increasing admin / supervisory responsibilities.
  • 40-hour Domestic Violence training preferred at time of hire. This training is required at first opportunity upon hire and must be completed prior to any contact with DV program clients or their personally identifying information.
  • Bilingual / bicultural preferred, and may be required for particular programs or sites.
  • Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (CDVP) certification prior to hire is preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES :

  • Strong supervisory and administrative skills, including team-building, reflective supervision, and grant management.
  • Knowledge of community resources, advocacy and crisis intervention skills, and an understanding of trauma and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • A high level of professionalism, flexibility, and mature judgment.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional self-awareness, insight, and commitment to ongoing professional growth. Models healthy boundaries and good self-care with clients and coworkers.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and demonstrate understanding and effectiveness in working with diverse populations.
  • Must be able to accommodate flexibility in work schedule, which may include some variable evenings and / or weekends.
  • Must be able to operate general office equipment and have basic computer knowledge.

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
