The Underwriter I plays a key role in reviewing merchant applications for payment processing, evaluating risk, and ensuring compliance with bank and industry requirements. This role is ideal for someone early in their underwriting career who is eager to learn, grow, and make an impact in a fast paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review merchant applications to assess risk and determine acceptance based on underwriting guidelines
- Interpret and analyze credit reports, business registrations, financial statements, and tax returns
- Verify and confirm information submitted on merchant applications
- Ensure daily applications are processed accurately and in a timely manner
- Communicate with agents regarding pending applications and required documentation
- Identify patterns, potential risks, and process improvements
- Navigate multiple systems and platforms to update and track application status
- Support team initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned
