Job Title : Java Backend Developer (AWS)

Location : Plano TX Onsite

Job Summary

Capital One is seeking a Java Backend Developer with strong AWS experience to design develop and support highly scalable cloud-native backend systems. The role focuses on building secure resilient microservices using Java and AWS aligned with Capital Ones engineering and DevSecOps standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design develop and maintain Java-based backend applications
  • Build and support microservices architecture using Spring Boot
  • Develop RESTful APIs and backend services
  • Implement cloud-native solutions on AWS
  • Work with AWS services such as :

EC2 S3 Lambda

  • ECS / EKS
  • API Gateway
  • RDS / DynamoDB
  • CloudWatch
  • Ensure application security scalability and performance
  • Implement CI / CD pipelines using Jenkins GitHub Actions or similar
  • Follow DevSecOps best practices and Capital One engineering standards
  • Collaborate with product owners architects and frontend teams
  • Participate in code reviews unit testing and troubleshooting
  • Support production deployments and on-call rotations if required

    • Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Java (Java 8)
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Boot Spring MVC Spring Security
  • Strong backend development experience
  • Solid experience with AWS cloud services
  • Experience with microservices and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of REST APIs JSON HTTP
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Git Maven / Gradle
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

    • Nice to Have

  • Experience working in financial services or banking domains
  • Knowledge of Capital One engineering practices
  • Exposure to Terraform / CloudFormation
  • Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka / SNS / SQS)
  • Knowledge of security standards (OAuth2 JWT encryption)
