Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Chemical Technician to support our manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing samples, operation thermal and mechanical processing equipment-including furnaces, ball mills, and sieves – and handling fine powder materials throughout the production and testing processes. This role plays a critical part in supporting R&D, quality control, and production initiatives, while ensuring that our products meet regulatory and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare chemical and material samples for testing, processing, and analysis
- Monitor and adjust process parameters to ensure optimal chemical reactions and product quality.
- Operate and maintain laboratory and production equipment including mixers, reactors, pH meters, and spectrometers.
- Collect and analyze samples from raw materials, in-process production, and finished products.
- Maintain accurate records of test results, observations, and any deviations from standards.
- Support quality assurance and control efforts by identifying and resolving inconsistencies
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Assist in scaling laboratory processes to full production levels when needed.
- Collaborate with engineers, chemists, and production staff to troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes.
- Operate and maintain high-temperature furnaces for heat treatment and material synthesis
- Run ball mills for fine grinding and homogenizations of materials
- Safety handle and process fine powder materials, including weighing, transferring, and packaging.
- Follow all powder handling protocols to prevent contamination, exposure, or dust generation
- Utilize local exhaust ventilation, gloveboxes, or containment systems as required.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with chemical handling, lab safety protocols, and hazardous materials management a plus
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with laboratory instruments and data analysis tools.
- Ability to follow written verbal instructions precisely.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and handle materials in an industrial environment.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of ISO standards, GMP, Or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with automated manufacturing systems and process control.
- Forklift certification or familiarity with material handling equipment is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Split between laboratory and manufacturing floor environments.
- May involve standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and exposure to chemicals.
- Standard shifts with occasional overtime or weekend work depending on or production demands.
- Exposure to dust, fine powders, high temperatures, and mechanical noise.
- Controlled environments with local exhaust ventilation and powder containment systems.
