Purpose and Impact :

As an Expectant Parent Program Coordinator, you will help expectant and birth parents set and achieve their goals through a supportive family-centered case management approach. You will manage program partnership agreements, including child files and enrollment applications, while assisting with essential health requirements and screenings. Contribute to the quality assurance efforts of Early Head Start.

Essential Functions :

  • Collaborate with center staff to align expectant and birth parent goals with classroom activities and ensure a cohesive child and family curriculum.
  • Engage in team management to plan, implement, and evaluate community and family engagement initiatives.
  • Enhance your skills through participation in workshops, in-service trainings, and relevant educational courses.
  • Recruit prospective families and guide them through the enrollment process.
  • Work alongside local agencies to connect families with community services.
  • Assist in completing child health screenings and familiarize yourself with referral requirements.
  • Document follow-ups on all referrals to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain confidentiality while communicating essential information to teachers to coordinate services effectively.
  • Provide health, safety, and family literacy activities tailored to parents.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of community resources and stay updated through annual visits to major agencies.
  • Attend parent / teacher conferences as needed to support families.
  • Prepare transition plans for children approaching their third birthday, ensuring all documentation is complete and timely.
  • Keep detailed records of family assistance efforts and outcomes, track referrals, and submit required reports.
  • Participate in all necessary staff and parent meetings and activities.
  • Adhere strictly to confidentiality policies regarding children and families.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support program objectives.

Physical Requirements :

Must be able to lift at least 45 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Education :

A High School diploma or G.E.D. is required, with an Associate's or higher degree preferred in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.

Experience :

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a social services environment working with children and families; Early Head Start experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual candidates, especially in English and Spanish or other relevant languages, are preferred.
  • Additional Requirements :

    Certification in First Aid and CPR must be obtained within six months of hiring, along with successful completion of a Level II background screening and drug screening.

    Skills :

  • Deep understanding of social work principles, human behavior, and human development.
  • Knowledgeable about local social and health services.
  • Proficient in computer data entry and family-centered practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to prepare reports and inform the community about available services.
  • Capable of performing mathematical calculations and analyzing data.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and making recommendations.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Other :

    Demonstrate sensitivity to the diverse cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the communities served.
