Robert Half is seeking a skilled System Administrator to support a client in San Antonio, Texas, responsible for managing mission‑critical systems, ensuring infrastructure security, and maintaining compliance across a diverse IT environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in server administration, virtualization, networking, automation, and enterprise hardware/software support.
Higher‑Level Responsibilities
The System Administrator will be responsible for advanced infrastructure operations, environment stability, and enterprise‑level configuration management. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and deploying Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and scripts to remediate complex or widespread end‑user device (EUD) issues related to vulnerabilities, security requirements, or compliance mandates.
- Maintaining server and networking equipment, performing regular maintenance, addressing vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and DoW standards.
- Administering VMware vCenter and ESXi hosts, including license updates, certificate management, patching, troubleshooting, and resource allocation across the virtual environment.
- Managing internal and external security certificates, ensuring proper tracking, renewals, and alignment with organizational security policies.
- Updating and managing critical server functions as the environment evolves—for example:
- Updating WSUS for new Windows OS versions
- Updating WDS for new hardware deployments
- Applying updates to RHEL and other Linux servers
- Supporting additional server roles as needed
- Troubleshooting and maintaining backup servers and Oracle-based devices, resolving issues to ensure system continuity and data integrity.
IT Gear Support Responsibilities
(General support and configuration; vendor support/maintenance contracts are maintained separately)
