SUMMARY : The Controller oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls for a tactical apparel and gear company with a full distribution center. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely close processes, effective cash management, and compliance with applicable regulations, while supporting leadership with financial analysis and decision-making. The Controller manages a team of three accounting professionals.
Financial Reporting & Close
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Prepare month-end journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
- Maintain primary responsibility for the general ledger
Accounting Operations
Supervise Accounts Receivable and Accounts PayableOversee cash receipts, disbursements, and reconciliationsManage cash flow and banking activitiesInventory & Cost Accounting
Research inventory cost variances to standard monthlyOversee inventory valuation and reconciliation for distribution operationsBudgeting, Forecasting & Commissions

Prepare required regulatory filings and internal reportsSupport audits and tax compliance with external partnersManage, mentor, and develop accounting staffPerform other duties as assignedEXPERIENCE / EDUCATION :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadershipStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingERP System Experience, knowledge of ABS or AS400 is a plusExperience in inventory-based or distribution environmentsPHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK CONDITIONS :
