Staff Accountant

HYBRID OPPORTUNITY IN COLUMBIA, SC

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client's growing team in Columbia, South Carolina. This role is integral to ensuring accurate general ledger management and supporting the monthly close process. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining compliance standards while fostering a culture of safety, respect, and excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Manage general ledger accounting for multiple business sites, excluding inventory accounts, and prepare journal entries to support monthly closing processes.

• Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and consistency.

• Collaborate with other divisions to reconcile intercompany account balances effectively.

• Assist in the preparation of quarter-end and year-end reporting packages for corporate compliance.

• Maintain and upload ledgers into the company-wide consolidation system to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Participate in compliance activities related to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

• Uphold the organizational values of safety, respect, and excellence in all aspects of work.

• Contribute to improving safety practices and fostering a respectful workplace environment.

• Support the preparation and review of detailed financial reports to drive organizational excellence.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business discipline with a focus on accounting.

• Up to 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably within public accounting or a publicly traded company.

• Interest in pursuing CPA certification or currently holding CPA credentials is preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with strong computer skills overall.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate and report.

• Familiarity with general ledger processes and journal entries.

• Knowledge of sales tax regulations and compliance.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
