Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Credit Officer to oversee credit risk activities within its Commercial Real Estate (CRE) portfolio. The role is responsible for managing a team of 4–6 underwriters and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and consistency of CRE credit decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and evaluate a team of CRE underwriters.
  • Review, approve, and monitor CRE credit transactions within assigned authority levels.
  • Ensure underwriting quality aligns with bank credit policy, regulatory expectations, and risk appetite.
  • Provide guidance on deal structure, risk identification, and mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers and senior leadership on complex transactions.
  • Monitor portfolio trends and identify emerging risks within the CRE segment.
  • Maintain timely workflow management and support credit process improvements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years relevant experience in Commercial Real Estate credit.
  • Experience underwriting CRE transactions across multiple property types.
  • Prior managerial or team-lead experience overseeing underwriters or credit staff.
  • Strong understanding of credit policy, financial analysis, risk assessment, and regulatory standards.
  • Proven ability to manage workload, make independent credit decisions, and communicate clearly with internal stakeholders.
