Strong understanding of medical terminology. Description : The Emergency Department has a total of 4 beds in the Annex, which is a secure locked psychiatric area for holding patients for placement. There are 25 procedure rooms available, along with 8 hallway beds that are utilized 24 / 7. The staff consists of approximately 88 personnel with various job titles. Patient ratios are typically 4 : 1, with flexibility during times of acute surge. Required skill sets include proficiency in ultrasound, IV skills, use of the Lucas Device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis. The patient population includes individuals with multiple comorbidities, as well as complex conditions such as trauma, stroke, and sepsis. Typical procedures performed in the unit include trauma care, stroke care, laceration repair, orthopedic trauma, eye exams, and EKGs. The best candidates are motivated hard workers, creative problem solvers, and possess a genuine desire to help and care for patients. Floating areas are not required. Dress code includes scrub attire; hooded shirts and sweatshirts are not permitted for safety reasons. Every other weekend commitment is required for contract labor. Candidates who meet the preferred qualifications, such as at least one year of ED experience, will be considered favorably.
