Optical Network Engineer IV

TEKsystems is hiring a Network Engineer IV for one of the largest technology clients in the world based out of Seattle, WA. This is a contract position and cannot work on C2C or referral basis.

• Should have a minimum of 7 years industry experience.
• Excellent network experience with the rollout of large
• DWDM networks and Optical network technologies
• and experience with optical planning and modeling tools.
• Expertise IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols.
• In-depth knowledge of and experience with major internet routing protocols specifically BGP and OSPF
• In-depth knowledge of and experience with major router platforms specifically with Cisco 37xx 49xx 65xx 73xx 76xx platforms including all compatible supervisory and line cards for these platforms.
• Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
• Candidates should also have had significant past experience with and expertise in many of the following protocols technologies : DWDM T1 / OTN IPv4 IPv6 TCP internals flow control BGP OSPF HSRP / GLBP PIMv2 IGMP LDP TACACS IPSEC VPNs netflow DNS HTTP.
• Additional Skills & Qualifications
• DWDM UI

o Ability to troubleshoot and / or provision from any vendor UI.

o Be able to discuss and propose ways to automate networking tasks (e.g. safe deployment of configuration, software upgrade, collection of metrics, traffic shift and impact mitigation).

o Any programming / scripting language (if can't write in any language, at least must be able to read and understand Python code)

In general candidates should show ability to use command line tools and scripts, read and modify existing code / systems (e.g. Python, Ansible), discuss and comprehend automation tasks on a per-device basis.

Expert Level

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00 / hr.
