Provide expert emergency nursing care in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting located in Joliet, IL. This contract position offers an opportunity to deliver direct patient care utilizing comprehensive nursing processesassessment, planning, implementation, and evaluationwhile collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe and effective patient care within the RN scope of practice in the Emergency Department.
- Monitor and respond promptly to changes in patients clinical conditions and treatment responses.
- Communicate critical information, including diagnostic results and symptom changes, to physicians.
- Provide patient and family teaching alongside supervision of other nursing staff.
- Uphold legal and ethical standards, including EMTALA regulations, and reporting of abuse cases.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN license for the state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and maintain current status.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum one year RN experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in an Emergency Room.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential is preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred.
- Completion and maintenance of Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 12 months for trauma-designated facilities or preferred for non-trauma.
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements (if applicable):
- MICN certification within 12 months for Paramedic Base Station ED.
- Completion of Emergency Pediatric Course 1 and 2 within six months for EDAP certified facilities.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 90 days for non-OB facilities.
