This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

We are looking for an RCS propulsion responsible engineer for our Gas Systems team on Lunar Transportation. You will provide technical leadership to the team, supporting members of your team, advising on technical approaches, and bringing your experience to bear on our most challenging technical problems. You will be responsible for the vehicle's RCS propulsion system, including the complete life cycle of the system from definition, interfaces, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation. You will plan out your components' schedules, manage risks and develop mitigation plans for your hardware. You will work with both internal and external suppliers to design, build, test and analyze components that will take us to the moon!

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 8+ years of experience in propulsion systems
  • Experience with the full engineering lifecycle of propulsion systems
  • Excellent fundamental understanding of propulsion system requirements
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring
  • Excellent fundamental understanding of compressible flow and 1D flow analysis
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly interface with external parties including government and commercial entities
  • Familiar with either agile or waterfall project management
  • Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel

Preferred Qualifications :

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
  • Systems Engineering experience, specifically requirements and interface definition, management and verification
  • Compensation Range for :

    CA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20

    CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95

    WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20

    Required for Certain Job Profiles : Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and / or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including : Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation / shipping training.

    Required for certain Job Profiles : Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

    Paid Time Off : Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
