Position Overview
The Aquatics Manager plays a key leadership role in delivering exceptional swim programs while maintaining the highest standards of safety, instruction, and team development. This role oversees all aquatics operations, leads and develops a team of swim instructors, and ensures every family receives a consistent, positive experience from their very first lesson.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, hire, onboard, and coach a high-performing team of swim instructors
Provide regular feedback, performance evaluations, and ongoing training
Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and class quality
Program Quality & Instruction
Oversee swim lesson delivery and ensure curriculum is followed with consistency and excellence
Partner with instructors to support student progress and adapt instruction when needed
Continuously look for ways to improve lesson quality, engagement, and outcomes
Safety & Compliance
Uphold all Aqua-Tots safety policies, procedures, and local regulations
Ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained aquatic environment
Verify all team members maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, etc.)
Family Experience & Communication
Serve as a point of contact for parents, addressing questions, concerns, and feedback
Resolve issues with professionalism, empathy, and a solutions-focused mindset
Create a welcoming, supportive environment for families and team members
Administrative & Operational Support
Maintain accurate records for attendance, enrollment, and certifications
Support marketing and enrollment initiatives to grow swim programs
Collaborate with leadership to align aquatics operations with school goals
Qualifications
Previous experience in aquatics management or a related leadership role (swim school or aquatic facility preferred)
Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
Thorough knowledge of swim instruction, water safety, and aquatic operations
Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education, or a related field preferred
