- Job SummaryThe Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the operating room, assisting surgeons and healthcare professionals in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative procedures. This role requires technical expertise, sterile technique proficiency, and a commitment to patient safety to support surgical efficiency and success.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare operating rooms, ensuring sterile environments and necessary equipment availability.Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and anticipating surgical needs.Maintain strict sterile technique, following protocols for infection control and patient safety.Set up, test, and ensure the functionality of surgical equipment and instruments.Monitor and manage surgical supplies, replenishing materials as needed.Handle specimen collection and ensure proper transport for laboratory analysis.Support postoperative cleaning and sterilization of equipment and operating rooms.Collaborate with nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to ensure smooth procedures.Stay informed on new surgical techniques and advancements in technology.Required QualificationsAssociate degree in Surgical Technology or completion of an accredited surgical technology program.Knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical procedures, and medical instruments.Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent teamwork skills.Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.Preferred Qualifications (if any)Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (preferred).Experience assisting in various surgical specialties.Certifications (if any)Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) (preferred).
