Job Summary

Performs and / or supervises one or more general and specialized clerical and administrative services essential to the operation of all University departments; and perform other related duties as required.

Covered under University series concept / job specification for classification 4722. Under general direction works on operational and / or procedural assignments that require the exercise of considerable discretion and independent judgment. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $29.03 - $41.55 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The Adult Medical Transitional unit provides care to a diverse adult patient population with an emphasis on acute and chronic medicine patients. These patients require more frequent interventions (every two hours) and more nuanced nursing assessments. Patients transition from the adult critical care units, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Emergency Department and acute care floors to this unit, depending on their condition and nursing care needs. Patient population includes but is not limited to end stage renal disease, DKA, new arrhythmias, respiratory compromise, sepsis screening and infectious diseases. Patients on 14 Moffitt commonly have central lines, wound care, nasogastric tubes, Q2 medications, electrolyte replacements and require maximum assistance for activities for daily living. There are 30 beds with telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry monitoring capability and 2 additional acute care beds that are activated pending hospital capacity. Nurses on this fast-paced, high acuity unit are a highly motivated group of professionals providing outstanding care to the entire patient populations served. Teamwork among our nursing staff, as well as physician and nurse collaboration, is well tuned and allows workflow to occur optimally.

Required Qualifications

High school graduation and four years of related administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Thorough knowledge in administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

Requires good verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills.

Requires interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel.
